The world without

by Savchuk Olga
The last fire of the melting sun was extinguished in the ocean waters. Two black figures were walking on the mountain.
Fresh after an evening swim, the couple decided to climb for the overnight onto the red Californian mountain. As they were walking up, they continued discussing different topics, jumping from one to another.
Oh, by the way, have you heard anything about Daniel and Bekki?
Yes, Daniel keeps telling me about each of his complaints.
From the very beginning we'd agreed that they are a mismatch. Both are boring, childish and unable to make themselves happy.
And he still is sure girls like him, so when they take their time to think, which obviously means 'no', he claims it to be just a being thoughtful and giving time for feelings to grow.
Poor guy! And he is 34, right?
35... Look, the shooting star!
Where? Oh, I missed it. But in August they're going to be plenty of shooting stars for me.
Are you cold?
The orange ground became more red, and the skies more blue. The horizon now fully disappeared uniting far lands, the ocean and the dark sky. Finally, they found the perfect place to set for the night. Not so big backpacks contained most of what they needed. Having prepared everything for sleep, they closed the entrance to the tent to keep its warmth.
Should we light a fire?
Probably.
Let's sort it out quickly then.
They took UGLI from the bag, found some big old branches and set a fireplace. The night birds have already started hunting, appearing black shooting objects. Elsewhere were some noises – some lizards hiding between the rocks, some birds calling their partners, some cars on distant highway.
Some tea? In the last moment I decided to take some in a thermos.
Green or black?
Mint. Cookies?
Yes, I'll go for them too.
It's a really nice view from this point.
I think we won't be able to pick it on purpose. Especially in day time.
This place came out of the blue to us. Even with a special fireplace.
Just think for a moment – we're on the end of the world. Look above and you'll face the universe.
Yes, moreover, it's a painting that we see. Since it's not real stars that we observe, but just their color and light.
We studied that about 80-90% of the whole universe consists of the plasma, the ionized gas. Ancient Greeks were sure there were four states for all materials that respond the four great powers on the earth – water, earth, air and fire. Liquids respond water, ice in pair with earth or ground, and air, obviously, goes with gas. Thus, plasma is coupled with fire.
So most of space is in a kind of burning state, right?
In a way, there is a similar logic of processes...
What if the world would be different?
Or having different qualities? Like consisting from one kind of simple particles.
Actually, it is so...
Then, maybe, they could be all neutral, and no positive and negative. What's then?
Probably, nothing would change in such a system, just full stability. What if the world would miss something currently existing?
Like what, for example?
I don't know. Anything... A reflecting effect. What if there would be no reflecting opportunities and no materials – any metals, any liquids etc. - would be mirroring.
Interesting... let me think. To my mind, the first to be influenced would be humanity. There is an ancient narrative about one man who was asked to look through the window, and then to look in the mirror. After he was asked of what he saw in both. 'I saw the street, people walking and driving. And in the mirror I saw my reflection', he concluded. 'Now you understand the power of silver, just a tiny layer of it and one can see only himself'. So with reflecting the self-centering could back off too.
Maybe. Provided to follow your logic, I can say that people could become less judgmental of themselves, which would influence their relationships in a good way, I guess.
Ego, identity as an individual would become weaker. Since one would see himself through eyes of other people. What they say to and about him, how they act towards him and so on.
On the other hand, with observation of your own uniqueness, for better or for worse, it could remain hidden. So differences would be less visible and, moreover, shown and understood by people.
It's a thing to argue. In both ways, of course.
Are you cold? Do you want to go inside the tent?
It's a good idea. I'll just pour the fire over.
Ok, I'll make a bed then.
They didn't feel time over a brainy talk, so even low moon didn't tell them it was quite late. Soft sounds of them talking were lost in leaves whispering to each other, waves whistling with shore, and kissing night birds. The day was done.
