full of light and heat. That morning I was puzzled by a bunch of cases and plans. I went down to the subway, where hundreds of faces were replacing each other one by one. I like to look on people in the subway, but if you try to pay attention to everyone, then your head will spin. That day I did not want to be distracted about my thoughts, but I did it when I felt the stranger’s gaze.
He was looking on me through the dark lenses of the sunglasses. Our eyes crossed at the next station. From under his glasses I noticed his emerald-green eyes, around which the first wrinkles had already appeared. «Probably, he laughs very often» it was my very first thought and then I looked away. But he kept looking into my face trying to catch my eyes again. I watched him in the reflection of dusty window. I finally managed to imagine how old he was. He looked like a constantly busy man of about forty. His sharp features, thin lips and diamond shaped face created the impression of a strict person. I immediately remembered the wrinkles that arise early from the fact that a person smiles a lot. Dissonance arose in my head, but we kept watching each other. He was of medium height and athletic build. He was wearing an office suit that gave solidity and impression of hardworking. His dark hair was in the tone of his jacket. In contrast was his snow- white shirt and pale skin. I was really tired of the intense look and was waiting for my stop.
We got off at one station. His pale hand held a heavy door in front of me and I heard a question. «Why are you so young and serious?» he asked me and I burst out laughing in surprise. «That is better!» he smiled and I had no doubt about his wrinkles. Yes, he laughs a lot, exactly! We went in different directions, but both with a smile on our faces.
