Sara called me: “Hey, Carl,
I want to show you something”.
She leads me into her room, close the curtains and looks the door. Then she puts a small cube on the table and says: “Watch closely”. I watch, as instructed, and the cube, little by little floats into the air.
-Are you a witch?! - I exclaim as I fall on my behind in awe.
- Silly Carl, witches or magic don’t exist. It is my newest invention. It can make any object float, but some work better than others.
She reaches under the table and shows me the weird contraption. It has a lot of chips and wires poking out.
-It’s still an early prototype, mind you.
-Well this is great news; I can’t wait to tell the others!
-Did you forget how I lead you in here? The world is not ready yet and I’m just a small scientist. If this breaks out, my research could get stolen, and I’ll be left with nothing! So you have to keep this a secret!
-But if you weren’t working on this alone, wouldn’t work go much faster?
-Oh, don’t be silly, it’s not that simple.
-Well why did you tell me about this? I might spill the beans to somebody else.
-Oh, Carl, I know how much you love my inventions, so I just couldn’t resist to show off. And I know you can keep a secret.
Keeping a secret, huh. I’ll keep it alright. At least it’s not about some crime or an unwanted child. I can’t hold stuff like that inside my noggin.
