As the day draws to an end
Love should have never felt like a chain.I could have stayed and played the part.
You might have appreciated everything I did.
We could have danced, we could have drowned,
lost in echoes, never found.
But that bitter sorrow was no home for me.
And I still remember hatred's throne - so cold and so unkind.
I didn't belong there.
Only when everything had been left behind, I gained something in return.
Like autumn dying into snow, I let you go as well.
Softly. Slowly. Painfully.
And yet so strangely neat.
Only in the quiet, I could clearly see again -
I am whole, though I have none.
And now, as the day draws to an end,
the night is mine to hold again.
The stars will burn, the world will breathe, and the memories will never leave.
