- Chris, wake up. It's me.
I woke up in the room with a terrible headache and a familiar voice that had been calling me for several minutes. John was sitting in front of me, holding a torn page from the morning paper.- John, what are you doing? What time is it anyway? I'm a little out of sorts right now, so I'm not ready for another surprise just yet.
- You don't understand! Blackstone won't wait for you to sleep in your cosy bed, so stop grumbling and listen. You don't have to listen. Here, take a look for yourself.
John held out a page to me, where another Sky crosser article was printed in screaming letters.
“...This morning, police reported another city resident missing. Witnesses claim that the missing man walked towards the famous Sky crosser skyscraper before fleeing in a completely inexplicable manner. Serial killer, maniac, or suspicious accident? Law enforcement is silent on what happened. Sheriff Miller mentioned the lack of any evidence. Now Sky crosser is surrounded by an outfit of police looking for any clues in the mysterious disappearance of people....
...read next issue: what is the government so diligently hiding from the citizens of the city?”
I had a cold smile on my face. Is this really going on? And if there's even the slightest clue as to where my father is now... I just have to be there. I can feel it.
- Chris, are you okay? Your face is gone. Should I call a doctor?
- Are you crazy? This is wonderful news, John. You've got to help me get out of here. We'll discuss a plan of action at home.
- What plan? What are you talking about? You're clearly out of your mind.
- Just shut up and listen for once. You have to believe me. Get me out of here. I'll explain everything, just do what I ask. Tonight at the same place. Now get out. I need to think things over.
John reluctantly left my room, slamming the door defiantly. I can't stop thinking about what happened in the city tonight. My attention was caught by the jacket I was wearing, which is what I found myself wearing here. I tried to get out of bed to retrieve it, but suddenly felt a piercing pain. My eyes went dark, but I didn't stop and tried to reach into the pocket. Just as suddenly, the door opened, and then Christopher saw the silhouette of Dr. Davis clearly out of the corner of his eye.
