The Feelings of Silence by M.V

A strange woman said nothing

When they came to her home without knocking.

She just listened to their pitch,

Knowing that her silence was much louder

Than anything they could tell.

She saw them there, standing in the light,

Yet she looked past them, pretending not to see.

Their voices scratched the air like a restless cat,

Clawing at the walls of her quiet room.

But she didn't move, she didn't speak;

She let the air grow thick and cold.

For her, silence was settling between them,

Heavy as a stone and twice as old.
