Review on the movie “Caravan Goes Further”

“Caravan Goes Further” is a student movie made in 2013 in I.K. Karpenko-Karyi University.

The idea of the movie has raised right after the occasion in a trade center  ”Caravan”, where  three guardians had been shot as police says by Mazuruk. Before working on the script we had explored different facts of this case, like true detectives. As a result we had a point that Mazuruk wasn’t the killer – he didn’t have any motivations and three people couldn’t be killed for nothing. So, our main version and prediction was the next. Yaroslav Mazuruk and his father had one conflict with government – they invented one kind of weapon, but they didn’t want to sell it for purpose price, so they refused to sell it at all. The next point is that right after the occasion deputies of Ukrainian parliament accepted law which permits guardians to carry guns.  Our theory looked like this: professional killer, who looked like Yaroslav Mazuruk shot the guardians. The precedent for promoting this law was made and unsuitable person like Mazuruk was destroyed and not only metaphorically as it would be found later by police.

Parallel, the publicity of Pavlychenko case has been rising. Comparing life lines, fate and tragedy of both families we wanted to create situation which could be happen nearly with every family in a state running by bandits. Despite we had totally changed the plot due to the true Mazuruk story, the idea stood the same.

The first line of the plot begins when a director who finds out his daughter’s love affair with shopping center guardian. He also gets known that the guardian has mercenary interest in his daughter. The second line shows a couple in Lviv region, they recognize their relative on the TV screen – the man is suspected in killing three guardians in little market in Borshchagivka. The husband goes to Kyiv to find his brother and finds out what had really happened. In this movie the main hero - Yaroslav did kill the guardians and he also watched the lovers – guardian and market owner’s daughter as a service for a director. Instead a  director had to solve Yaroslav’s troubles with his creditors. Yaroslav has been saving for 6 year to buy the flat, but creditors throw him away …

At first sight, everything seems to be unclear, the heroes are not connected, but till the end of the movie viewer understands the whole affair which had happened to the main hero. Despite, we realize that Yaroslav had committed the crime and broken moral and justice law, we felt deep sympathy to him. What else he could do? He was desperate, thrown, tricked. The bandit-capitalist machine has eaten him. And actually what is a human life for that system?
