years old my sister decided to tell me a bedtime story. Elena never did anything like this before, so I was pleasantly surprised. And to be quite honest, I was looking forward to having a break from those boring, repetitive princess stories that my mom read to me.
Later that evening as I was getting ready for bed and lights in my bedroom suddenly switched off and the door shut. My colorful, glittery room turned into a pitch black nothingness:
"What if no-one is ever alone? What if every single human being has a companion, a silent passenger that they can never see nor hear?" my sisters trembling voice asked. Than Elena continued:
"What if there is a shadow that is always there behind you and you never notice it? What if wherever you go something, someone constantly follows? Subconsciously you understand it’s there, you know that it is watching, observing. You always sense the presence."
I felt shivers going down my spine. Then my bedroom door shut ones again and I heard Elena running downstairs to the living room. I wanted to follow her, but she closed me inside. I was left all alone. Or did I just think that I was alone? I immediately went back to bed and covered myself with a blanket to create this feeling of safety and calmness. But it didn’t work at all. My mind started going one hundred miles per hour. I didn’t know what to do.
And then everything stopped… I felt someone’s warm breath right beside me. Within a second my entire body started pulsating and blood rushed to my face. Those terrifying feelings swallowed my entire body, causing my inability to move or even breathe. I knew that somebody was standing and he or she was about to do something. At that moment the only thing I wished for was to vanish, disappear into nothingness, leaving a cold-blooded and empty flesh.
