The Meeting by Daniel Nikitin

- Mr Evans is it you?

- Wow! Mr Howard! It’s so unexpectedly but I’m really glad to see you here! What are you doing here?
It was really unexpectedly. We’ve seen each other 10 years ago for the last time. I remembered his extremely good memory and this meeting has just confirmed my rightness. He first saw and greeted me.
He remembered all the laws and the dates of amendments. He definitely remembers me because I was scrolling Facebook length at his lecture. He was so angry then but now he is glad to see me too. Al least I hope.
- I’m going to Faroe Islands. I’ll have an expedition for 3 weeks there. Now I’m a photographer and making photos for National Geographic. I really love what I’m doing and it allows me to live as I want.
He doesn’t need to know another reason why do I have a ticket there.
- Wow! You’re a lucky man, Dominic! It’s important that you realized yourself.
Maybe he is right but...
- How about you, Mr Howard? What were you doing here?
- Nothing special, just a scientific conference in Malmö. But I decided to departure from Copenhagen because of lower ticket prices. Now I’m flying back to Cambridge.
- Are you still working in Cambridge University?
- Yes, I’m a tutor and I like it. I don’t want anything to change. By the way, have you ever been working on your speciality?

But I want. I finally want to meet her.

- Yes, I had been working for 4 years after university. Then I quitted it because of lack of interest.

A woman sat on the opposite row while I was telling it. Something switched inside me. EVERYONE FROM MY PAST IS HERE! What person will I see the next in this airport? My first girlfriend? A basketball player who was my childhood idol? Maybe, our neighbor, who sold his business and moved to Costa Rica in 2008?

- To be honest, my daughter had the same problem. She studied architecture but left an academy during the second year. Now she is in medical university and wants to be a pharmacist.

Everything is like 10 years ago. I’m pretending to listen his stuff but totally inside my thoughts. Is it #10yearschallenge? I think no because she was alive that time. Now I have another question: where had I seen that woman?

- Good luck to her! Sorry but I need to go. I was glad to see you here!

- Thank you too, have a nice time during expedition, Mr Evans!

It’s about 2 a.m. in Copenhagen. I’m pretending to go in an opposite way. My plane departures in an hour. But now I have another question and it refers to that person...

I took a phone in order to find the photo, then came to her and asked:

- Excuse me, do you recognise this girl?

She hadn`t responded for a minute. I could see tears in her eyes. Finally she answered:

-  Yes. Why are you asking me? And how do you know about her?

I still had time before the flight so I sat near her and began to tell my story...
