Catherine was awakened by a sharp loud sound. Alarm clock somewhere was crying relentlessly, like a siren, but she felt that that music was the echoe from a dream. Yawning sweety, girl groped her phone. There were fun droplets outside the window, which were heard like softly steps. It was the first autumn rain, the same rain that gave a special gloss for yellowed leaves. She looked wistfully at the red maples, which sported happily their new clothes and momentarily let the memories capture her. As a child, Catherine loved walking under the autumn rain, scattering bright yellow maple leaves wih her feet.
The alarm rang again. Perhaps, it felt her daydreaming. It was ten minutes past seven on the clock. It was a sign that she couldn’t afford to lie in bed any more. Although the raindrops flew in a funny way, the sky seemed to be gloomy and sad. With a great reluctance she finally got up. This reluctance was not unreasonable: there was the Monday on the calendar and ahead of a difficult week with many urgent matters and deadlines; she had unpleasant meeting with clients per hour, and then the long journey in a public transport full of irritated passengers. The rain, according to the weather forecasts would fall to the evening and there was no hope that Monday day would bring positive emotions.
Before leaving Catherine looked into the mirror again to see the final result of her morning efforts. There were some details which complemented dark image of her outfit: heavy black handbag with long strap, voluminous case for laptops and a big umbrella, which, incidentally, she wanted to change for a very long time, because it looked like a Christmas tree. However, there was no time to improve the image and she left the apartment in a hurry.
After some time a young businesswoman had appeared on the right subway station, mentally repeating her presentation, when suddenly one customer called and asked her to reschedule an hour later. Of course, that suggestion angered her, but the prospects of profitable demand forced her to agree.
However, the mood had already been spoiled. There was no sense to go to work then and she had no idea how to spend an extra hour in an unfamiliar area. Fortunately, the rain, which was going to turn into a downpour, and the cold wind prompted her the output. In addition, her big umbrella was very awkward, that made her owner much more angry.
Instantly, Catherine had randomly chosen a small cafe, which attracted her with its cosiness and aroma of fresh baking. There wasn`t a lot of visitors in the hall of cafe "Jardin". She came up to the counter with scones and tried to choose something among a variety of pastries for a long time. Suddenly, she heard a voice behind:
Take one with cherry, Kitty. It has the same taste as at school.
Of surprise, she almost dropped her umbrella. There was a tall handsome guy with a child's naive eyes and swarthy wet mop of hair in front of her.
- Jey-Jey! You are so big and …wet! - she blurted eventuality.
- I’m also very happy to see you. Can we drink some tea? Do you have a minute?
- Gladly. – the girl replied happily.
- You know, if it wasn`t a rain, we even would not meet.
