The Unknown Uncle by Andrii Lysenko

Someone must have been telling lies
about Josef K., he knew he had done nothing wrong but, one morning, he was arrested.A lot of questions arose in his head. How could it be that such honest and sincere person was treated by someone in a very sneaky way. He lead a busy life and couldn’t allow himself to waste a minute. Also his grandmother had an operation that day and he was going to support her in hospital. He wanted to bring her fruits and attention and to be about in order to take care of her. But these unknown people obliged him to stay in a small room with unpleasant smell for next several days, as they said.He stood next to the window  thinking about it and looking through metal lattice on the yard. It was raining outside. The sky was cloudy and grey. Pedestrians were completely wet and had unhappy faces.Suddenly, somebody loudly knocked on the door and a few seconds later it was opened. A group of three strong men came in and filled this tiny room to the walls. The highest man turned his head to our miserable Josef. The two others had their heads down and looked gloomy. The man said: “We apologize for this small misunderstanding. A terrible crime was committed. But I am ordered to keep the details secret. Now you will be taken to a space to have a talk with a very influential person of this world. To be short, we were looking for some other man, not you”, - the last words he threw with disgust. “In addition to above, I am to inform you that you may ...”Suddenly the door was knocked by someone again. Loudly. The men looked at each other anxiously. The highest one was scared, all of them were. The next moment the door opened and there stood a little boy. He questioned: “What are you doing here? I will tell everything to my father.” Josef noticed something familiar in the face of the boy. His appearance resembled features of a person he used to know long ago.The boy started cursing the men and they apologized to every curse. It lasted for several minutes until Josef finally understood whom the child was alike. The boy resembled his father. “What does it mean?” He thought. “I was the only child, was I? Was my father an important figure? Then how do plumbers become important? And how do people wake up from death?”The next day he was invited to dinner with a complete copy of his father. Turned out, his father had a twin brother whom he asked to take care of his son after he dies. After a long conversation Josef heard the words: “Ask anything you ever need you I will give it to you. Starting from now I will solve unsolvable things for you”
