We travelled north to build machine
It would burn fuel to give us warm
No snow would stop its beating heart
Until there’s no more coal.
As soon as we began our toil
Our captain ran us down like dogs
No man was fed and many died
To old and simple cold
With no morale left in our hearts
We could not keep on working
And only hate grew in our hearts
Our leader was our burden
We went on strikes, we got our food
Demanded care, we got it all
But we were lost in asking more
When snow began to fall.
