Wishes Father Thoughts by Evhen Gab

He was sitting in the bar thinking of his miserable life.
He wasn’t clever or handsome; he was not rich or famous. He was nothing, just nothing. He ordered a pint of dark beer, sitting in the booth of old-fashion cabaret.   Strippers were wagging thighs, old stinky visitors were yelling dirty jokes. Looking at this abomination he thought of nothing but his loneliness and disgrace. “I wish I was gifted” – she thought and closed his eyes.
“It is possible” –someone answered intriguingly. He opened his eyes and saw two dispassionate girls sitting in front of him. He was puzzled. “How could they possibly know what I was dreaming about?” – he asked himself.
“It doesn’t matter”– said one of the strangers. “We are here to give you everything you want. Let’s discuss the terms of our deal” – she murmured mechanically. Another girl gave her a notebook.
“What do you want?” – she wondered. “I’m dreaming of …” “money/power/fame?” – she interrupted his speech.
“I can give you a bottle of inspiration to write a novel that would live through ages. The story that would be awarded with the Nobel Prize. But here comes the cost of your astonishing success: ten years after you’ll stabbed with the broken sharp bottle for  twenty three times. Well, at least that is written in my notebook, Mr. Harrison. There is 40% chance that you’ll survive” –  said the girl calmly.
“What a generous offer!” – he proclaimed sarcastically.”Well, and who will kill me?” – he murmured with curiosity.
“I cant  tell you about this. I only can say that it would be someone whom you’ll know the same good as you know yourself”–   her mechanical voice continued sounding. She pulled out a bottle with odd mysterious liquid. “So, deal?” – she asked.
Ending№1:  “Deal! – he yelled.– I’ll probably be killed by my spouse! So no spouse means no murder! I’ll stay all alone but with money and fame“.
He hysterically laughed, grabbed the bottle and ran away.
“So, will he escape his fate?”  – the second girl asked.
“No. Actually he reduced his chances to survive to zero. There is no one now to call ambulance when everything happens” – she gladly answered.
“My mistress, who’ll bring the  eternal peace to his vain soul?”  – the second girl asked.
“He’ll commit a suicide. After all those years of prosperity and popularity he’ll finally recognize that his genius novel is not written by him. It is whispered by my bottle. He’ll get sick and tired of being useless and shallow, to pretend being a genius. ”
Ending№2:
“Deal!– he yelled. – I should obey the rules. I’ll try to fulfill my life at best! I’ll have a family, friends, I’ll go all around the world!” – he inspiredly proclaimed.
“It’s you choice. Let my just give you the right bottle” – she said and switched a bottle with old wooden flask. – “Drink this one”
He took the  flask and drank the tasteless liquid. “Now, I need to go. There is no time for me to spend in place like this” – she murmured and ran away.
“So what would happen to him?” – the second girl asked.
“He won’t die. There was no deal. I have given him an ordinary water. He is smart enough to create a masterpiece by himself”– she answered passionlessly.  They disappeared.
