Break away from Life by Dariia Gvozdetska

Lucy got into traffic jam on the way to work.
Being sleepy, exhausted by constant need to compile reports and at the same time tempered by huge amount of coffee, she didn’t perceive around world that morning. It was raining outside car, islands of wheel free paved road sparkled of sputum. She saw in the window that the same Lucies, outspent of big city life, were sitting in the neighboring cars. Woman was thinking about another report of the documentation, when a familiar melody sounded from the radio – Seal “Kiss from a Rose”…
The last waltz the last time… No, second last. 3 years have passed since the end of the lyceum, and memories don’t go away, as if it was yesterday. Had gathered then with the classmates out of town, as we had used to do. As always had spent time funny and easy, years of cooperation at school haven’t gone unnoticed. Had returned to the town in hour before midnight, and every from those six “the most durable“ had survived real emotional flash that had engraved in memory for all life. At least Lucy had felt like that. Midnight. The devastated school placard that had been preparing for the upcoming last in the life of the eleventh graders last bell, no matter that it is tautology. Seal “Kiss from a Rose”, had been taught to the last note in classes from the waltz, had being sounded from the phone's dynamic, breaking the night silence of a small town. Classmates, the closest of them, partner whom have being prepared for the last school dance with. And the most important – the starry sky, pure, as in the dreams of childish innocent souls, pure, as canvas of the future life on which they still had to build their destiny.
The first chord, the first move Lucy’s partner, Anton, the first step that had given the impetus to break away from the earth not for a second or two, but for infinity... One of the nicest, most sensitive moments of life, the moment of touch to eternal, boundless happiness. The pleasure of being carefree "almost not a teenager", in love with life and full of high dreams had filled up heart in that moment, exalted above physical existence, that starry carpet, those realities that could be imagined...
It's gone down. Soul movements ended. The taxi driver began to swear loudly to the driver of the car, moving in the front. Lucy's sweet memories pushed her into reality, dissolving in the noise of everyday life. Another composition was heard from radio waves, but it didn’t worry woman anymore, as well as absence of rain and traffic jam out of the window. She returned to the rejection of the surrounding life, but this time not under the influence of apathy to the speed of big city life, but because she was full of teenage happiness, easy as the movements of the melodic last waltz…
