The Farewell by Elizaveta Groza

“Am I on time?” asked the girl,
gasping for running and grinning from ear to ear. “You are, almost” Ethan took her hands.
His brown eyes sparkled with happiness at once, talking about the bliss for seeing Mary-Louise here right now. Ethan`s heart was beating so fast because of his excitement and election.
“Doesn`t your father mind you are here?” asked the guy.
“I don`t know” the girl shrugged her shoulders. “I escaped from the window” she chuckled. There was the ardor lighting up in her green eyes.
“From the window?” worried the young man. His eye-brows moved to his nose bridge. “You shouldn’t do that ever again, promise me!”
“I am ready to do anything for you.” softly whispered Mary-Louise and touched Ethan`s cheek.
The young man was peeling into her face features trying to remember Mary-Louise`s image as neatly as possible. He loved everything about her: every freckle, her cute dimples, and charming smile. He considered himself not to deserve the girl like she, and he didn`t understand what such a girl could have found in him.
“I will be waiting for you” said Mary-Louise leaving her palm on Ethan`s cheek. Her voice was shivering. “Hope your dad will recover soon”
“I am going there to say him goodbye, you know that. The doctors don`t give him more than a month”
Ethan`s eyes filled with sadness. He truly hoped his father`s illness would go away, but he still understood this was probably nothing more than a self-delusion.
“Miss Savers!” someone off screamed from the crowd.
Mary-Louise had at once understood she was found.
“I have to go” Ethan hurried up.
“Wait!” the girl grabbed his arm to stop him.
She was ready never to let him go, or to follow him wherever he would go. However, she still couldn`t do that. Their lips touched each other in a hurry kiss.
“Miss Savers!” sounded again.
This had broken the lovers apart as if two pieces of a whole. Ethan looked into Mary-Louise`s eyes. His legs didn’t want to take him away from her. He was afraid most of all it was the last moment he could see her. Probably, he won`t find her after returning back in England. She will be engaged and forget about him. Her father has already made a decision concerning his daughter`s destiny. Ethan and Mary-Louise have nothing to do, but except it.
The young man hurried up to board the Titanic which would set sail in a few minutes. Mary-Louise was seeing him off with a glance till he disappeared in a crowd.
“Miss Savers.” Two people came up to the lady. “Your father immediately wants you to come back home.”
The first one was about her high, thin but strong. The second one was a bit higher and he painfully grabbed Mary-Louise`s arm.
“Don`t touch me!” she strictly commanded “I can walk out myself”
The man let her arm out. He was ordered to get the girl home and it didn`t matter would it be forced or not, so if she had chosen walking by her own, he didn`t mind.
