The Hiking Trip by Kate Cherniakh

Gorgeous views are passing by
as we are driving through the forest which radiated with bright green color. I was looking forward to this hiking trip for months and finally it was happening. Earthy air rich with fragrance of leaves and loam was brushing through my hair. These incredibly mesmerizing sights brought back to life my imagination that was lost in the concrete jungles of New York. The only thing that bothered me was the presence of my annoying older brother. I promised mom that during this trip I will at all times be with him. But let’s be honest, I was never going to keep my word. Being around this control freak even for a minute makes me feel trapped and angry.
So when my brother was busy taking out all of the hiking gear I started exploring the woods. As I was walking deeper and deeper into a dark spruce forest I noticed a little stream splashing on the rocks and making hypnotic tinkling sounds. Here I forgot about my problems, stress, annoying people. In these woods even time vanished. Somehow the entire world disappeared and this felt more home than the actual home. Time went by, and the sun started sinking down beneath the tops of the pines. I lifted my face, letting the light and shadow dance across my skin. I was simply having fun and enjoying life until I realized that I was lost.
Suddenly I felt electricity going through my entire body and instantly my breath got heavier. I started calling for help. Yet the only response I got was a dead silence. Fortunately, I managed to calm down and started thinking more rationally. But my instance thought process was interrupted by squeaky, high pitched sounds. I couldn’t believe my eyes there was a little wolf. Although my instincts were screaming: «RUN! GET OUT OF THERE! » my curiosity won. And I slowly moved closer to this cute, tiny creature. As soon as I stepped forward a huge wolf walked out of nowhere. The only thing I managed to see were those sparkling bloodshot eyes. The wolf was getting ready to bite my head off. I wanted to shout, but no sounds were coming out. I wanted to run, but my whole body was paralyzed. The wolf jumps right at me…
I open my eyes… Beautiful sights are passing by, and I’m in the car again…
