Something Personal by Alexandra Haistruk

V: I can't understand this! It's horrible. And people call such things art? This is unbearable! What is
it? Can you say to me?

A: You can look at picture and understand it. Everyone finds something personal in this picture.
That's the point. Look, use your imagination to fulfill this paining with details, if you need this.
V: What are you talking about?! I see only blue stains on the canvas. It isn't an art. On a painting
people should see something and understand it. And what people can see here?
A: May I suggest that you are a fan of classical art?
V: Yes, I am. So what? Do you have something against classical art?
A: No, sure not. But I think that modern art may be more difficult, because the world itself became
more difficult and controversial. Today artist want people to thin more, to feel more. Simple pictures
surround us in our everyday life: advertising, cinema, computer games. Modern art tells people
something important, but they should manage to read the message. That is why people should use
their fantasy. I want to ask you a question: how often do you dream?
V: What? I don’t have time for such stupid things.
A: Yeah, and this is the most important loss of the 21th century. With all new technological
entertainments people have lost their ability to create, imagine and dream. People just wait for the
chance when someone else will create a new world, love or adventure story for them. This painting
is created in order to wake people’s ability to dream and find something new and strange in ordinary
things.
V: Who are you?
A: My name is written near the painting. Have a good evening, miss.
