It`s been three years since Jan and Hale has being dating and today is their anniversary. Hale made a reservation at their favorite restaurant, bough 100 roses and wedding ring.
He thought they were ready to go on the next step in relations. In the morning he pretended that he forgot about this significant date. And Jan did the same. Hale thought that she prepared something too, but his present she`ll be remember for long.
They went to the work: Jan to the bureau of translations and he to the car workshop. After dinner-time she called Hale to say that tonight she`ll come home late, because she has a lot of things to do and runs out of time.
`She`s definitely contrived something for me` - assumed Hale
`No problem, I`ll wait for you`
`No, you don`t have to. I`ll arrive really late, may be even after 12. `
`Honey, I won`t be able to sleep until you lay with me. The bed seems empty and lonely without you. You know what? I`ll pick you up and we`ll go for dinner in restaurant or cafe`
`Hale, I don`t have time for it. My chief lost his mind and demands from us full dedication to work. We`ll go somewhere on the holidays, but not today. And you astonish me. Why on earth must we go out tonight? I don`t see special occasion. `
Hale was astonished more than Jan. He was stinged, but he didn`t show it. `There is no occasion, I just miss you. Is this not a reason for you? `
`I would like to spend all my time with you as far as possible from job. You know it. But today I need to deal with my superior. `

`Oh, thank you, I forgot to dine. One croissant is hiding somewhere on my table under thousands of documents. I bought him last week, but I hope he`s still eatable.

Hale decided to come to his girlfriend`s work place after her chief goes home – it was usually at six o`clock. He had a ring in his pocket and he wanted to make a proposal. Jan was a person with whom he wished to build a future.
When he arrived at the parking lot he saw Jan`s superior – a big fat man with red round face that reminds balloon and huge belly that looks like drum. Jan told Hale that he enjoyed flirting with young and pretty subordinates, especially with woman secretaries. But she repulsed his flirt at the drop of a hat.
`Bob, wait, it`s hard for me to go so quickly when I`m on spike heels. ` - Jan was almost running towards man who seemed to be displeased.
`My dear, you need to hasten if you intend to be in Hale`s bad before 12. ` - he kissed a woman pulling her closer and she wrapped her arms around his neck. She was tiny opposed to his fat body.
`So, where do you want to go? To my mind, we shouldn`t waste time. I invite you to my apartment `
`I agree. Wasting time is not economically. Besides, Hale will be waiting for me`
`Oh, that stupid chappie. I feel sorry for him. `
They departed leaving Hale alone. They didn`t notice him and he heard everything perfectly. The ring burnt a pocket of his trousers. Hale took it and wanted to throw it away, but he gave last money for that ring. Tomorrow he`ll bring it back to the shop. He doesn`t need it any more.
