A Magical Mirror by Victoria Dzhym

 Once upon a time, a man named Jeremy

lived in the village that cannot be found in a map any more. This happened many years ago that mostly no one remembers of this adventure. Jeremy was a generous and very kind man who was always there if someone ever needed help. People in the village admired him and were happy to have such a good man in their place. But one day, a huge trouble happened in Jeremy's family. His wife Elena was looking for berries in the wood and suddenly fell off a cliff and was very seriously damaged, so since then she could only lay in her bed and never sit or walk again. Jeremy and their kids cried a lot because they loved Elena and wanted, she was healthy and happy forever. Doctors were not able to mend her, and Jeremy lost his hope and still loved his wife and every day took care of her.

One day he was working in the garden. Jeremy wanted to plant some new trees, so his children could eat fruits and stay in a good health. When work was almost done, Jeremy saw something shiny in the ground. He was a bit scare because he didn’t see something like that, but he picked it up and looked at it. This was a mirror, but Jeremy didn’t know that. Suddenly he noticed that some words were written in the back of the mirror. Luckily, Jeremy was able to read, and soon he discovered that someone who looks in the mirror and says special words will recover even from very severe illness. Jeremy thought about Elena and run in the house to tell her about the magical thing he has found. Elena did everything that was written, and miracle happened – she felt how her body becomes strong again and pain didn’t make her cry any more. She sat down in her bed and then Jeremy helped her stood up. Elena wasn’t walking for a long month, and now was unbelievably happy to be able to move again. Jeremy looked in the mirror and saw that some new words appeared. They said that if the mirror would ever be broken, something bad could happen. Jeremy was worried and told this to his family, so they decided to hide the mirror in the place where no one could find and damage it.

Since that day, Jeremy and his family lived happily and wealthy because the miracle inspired them to work harder than ever before. The talks of magical remedy were spread all over their village and even further because no one could believe this is true. People were glad for Elena and brought some gifts for her. But not everyone was happy, Jeremy’s family. A man named Stefan was known as a very jealous person who didn’t feel any excitement for someone’s wellbeing. This man discovered that if the mirror would be broken, something bad would happen, so he decided to try it out. It was a night when Stefan sneaked in Jeremy’s house and began to look for a mirror. Unfortunately, he found it was about to run away, but Jeremy woke up because of noise and caught a thief.

- Put this thing where to found it and get away from my house!

- No, I won’t do it. I don’t want you to be happy, and I am going to break it, so your wife will die!

- You will regret it. Give it back to me.

Children and Elena also woke up and was crying and begging Stefan not to break the mirror. They were afraid of something terrifying that might happen, but Stefan was sure he would break it. Suddenly the mirror fall out of Stefan’s hands and breaks into little pieces covering all the floor in shine dust. Jeremy looked at his wife that was as white as a snow. Everyone held their breath waiting for something, and then an invisible power took Stefan above the ground. Everyone saw Stefan tearing into tiny stars which lighten up the night.

That is what had to happen – the bad man disappeared and never came back. This story should persuade you not to be jealous of someone’s wealth and not to try to hurt anyone. Jeremy's family remained happy and healthy, but they never forger about this adventure.
