Ancestors' Legacy by Danylo Klochko

To the Chef of Xenoarcheological Division of Tariz
(Codename: “Ancestors' Legacy”).
From Zireed Kloda, lesser prefector. Prefectura of Arlena, planet Tariz.
The report of the xenoarheological expedition to the planet Salamath (codenumber: 74-60-19).
During the excavation period (from 3385.13.76 to 3386.13.80 Tarizian Space Era) the expedition had discovered the tomb, built approximately 36000 years ago, which means that the previous suggestions about Hzsen'Kharf'Yuwson (common translation: “cult of death”, literal: “erasing of one”) being wide-spread philosophy all over the planet 40000 years ago was false one, as it is forbidden to bury bodies of the dead under this teaching. However my theory remains unchanged since the beginning of the excavation: the tomb is most likely to belong to legendary (at least until recently) Orra-Vorrah XXVI (“The Magnificent”) who allegedly ruled Salamath before planet entered its (infortunately to everyone already passed) golden age and thus must have been at the origins of it. The hypothetical name has been given in respect to four facts: name of current ruler of Salamath, the tradition of dynasty names and the symbolic meaning of the number of 26 to Salamath people, and mutual exclusiveness in modern usage of this number and the word “magnificent”.
As it was originally expected, natives had responded aggressively to our works. Therefore funds which you allocated for hiring several private forces' squads turned out to be more then useful as we haven't lost a single man from our group to local guerillas. The number of casualties in PF's ranks is not included on purpose. However two junior xenoarcheologists died in an accident that followed the discovering of the coffin and opening it. The body was still decaying and so accumulated gases almost immediately killed two of my researches after release. Funds allocated for the expedition covered the expense of sending their bodies to their homeworlds: colonial planets Azuk and Karkoz respectively. So we now can assume that the well-known theory of the evolution of salamath species 20000-15000 years ago presumably false one as well. As the protocol declares, all biological samples have been sent to Xenobiological Division. Also several FTL (“faster then light”) engines of the same time period as the whole tomb, according to the total corrosion level were discovered, surrounding the coffin. Not only this proves that Salamath inhabitants could travel on speeds above atmospheral requirements and needs 36000 years ago but also confirms the hypothesis of elder prefector of Arlena Janad Kloda that this species were the only intro-atmospheral creatures to be able to travel through space at that period. As you know, this suggestion is based on styding of the memories of ancient extra-atmospheral creatures called Baaty, who noticed only one type of ships during the period from 100000 to 25000 years ago. The initial comparison between recorded memories and discovered engines shows 87% match. In respect to the age of Baaty, imperfections of our memory-reading technologies and passed time we can assume that expedition 74-60-19 discovered not only the alleged tomb of greatest Salamath ruler but also the oldest space species we are aware of so far.
Despite made discoveries, I still believe that the exploration potential of Salamath planet remains huge, and therefore sending another request to remove this planet from the list of so-called “unpromising planets” and begin sending expeditions there at once. Also I am sending my request to lead one of this expeditions. The additional materials on the expedition 74-60-19 (holo-images, results of the analysis and samples) will be sent in a separate transmission.
