“Why did you choose these colours?” by Sasha Korniichuk

A picture hung in front of me.
The first thing I felt when viewing it was uncertainty. A small peaceful cottage with a chimney, from which the smoke came out and creeped high in the sky, stands in the middle of a lawn surrounded by a dense coniferous forest. But you don`t feel peace and tranquility, that reunited with nature. Whole picture was drawn in cold blue, green and grey colour shades. And this dissonance really knocked me down. Instead of warm emotions I felt frost, danger and even fear. It was like something bad was coming.
“To make you feel.”
“But I could feel the warmth and calm.”
“Good emotions don’t give you the opportunity to think deeply. You are in the comfort zone, where it is very difficult to get out. But I pulled you out of there by a combination of a sweet landscape and cold tones. How do you feel now?”
“I feel… vaguely.”
“I'd rather say down to earth. You’re standing on this floor in your boots. And now take them away. Do you feel? It`s cold. Now it`s not so warm and comfortable as it was in shoes. So is the picture. Cold shades cooled you down, gave you to feel a real life, a real temperature of the floor.
“It`s kind of pessimistic.”
“No, it`s just a prism, through which it is sometimes worth to look at the world. And I will have one more request for you.”
“What?”
“Don`t forget to look through this prism from time to time. It will give you the opportunity to see the situation from all sides.”
