Jane had just saw the result of the test.
She was pregnant. Her feelings could be described by one simple and beautiful word: happiness. She had absolutely no doubt that it was the best moment in her life. All her life she granted her love to other kids, even when she was a child herself not long ago. And now she was going to have a child of her own. Jane couldn't wait to tell this news to her parents, sisters, friends, the whole world if it's possible. But before all of them, James, her groom must know it first. No doubt, he will be happy just as she is. Yes, of course he always says that he doesn't like kids, but she was more than certain that it was just another one of the masks, he wears every day. And even if he got so used to this mask, he will definitely love this child as it came out of their true love.
— Jack! Jack! — James stormed into the room like a hurricane.
— What?! — Jack sounded irritated, as if he was in the middle of something, though he was sitting in the empty room all alone.
— Jane is pregnant! — James' voice was full of shock as if the end of the world has suddenly started before schedule.
— My... congratulations?.. — said Jack with confusion. — Or it's not your child?
— Wha... Of... of course mine, how dare you ask such questions? — now that friend mentioned, James wasn't so certain.
— Than what's the problem? — voice of Jack became irritated again.
— I am not ready for being a father! — James grabbed friend's shoulders, but quickly released them under warning sight. — And who would be in twenty-three years?!
Jack was going to say something, but James was already unstoppable:
— I'm merely a child myself, you know it! And I don't like kids! But Jane... you know how she does! Should I say her to make an abortion, she wouldn't even listen! Maybe it's better to run, before it's to late? But her father... he hated me before just for my existence, now he'll hate me even more, but if I run away... Gosh, what he will do with me then? You know how he's good at finding people and what he's capable of!..
— Yeah, Canada is not a definition of safe harbor this time, — suddenly got chance to interrupt Jack. — Pity, it's great this season. Just as any other. I'd suggest Australia, but with their spiders and that accent... and I'm not sure what is more monstrous.
— You know what, Jack? Go to hell, — James turned and walked to the exit. — Of all friends I have, you — are the worst.
— See you, James, — replied Jack, pretty sure that his friend will ask for help very soon. — But it seems, you are the one who goes to hell here.
