Chicken Wings by Ihnat’yeva Anastasia

“Everything is under control,”
stated his poster above the table. And so, it was. Until recently. The young guy Derek was hiding from his colleague Donna under the table, behind a large green ficus and behind the huge back of accountant Noah. And all the fault is chicken wings. Derek did not expect a pair of wings in the parking lot of their office to turn his life upside down.
A common case: two colleagues decided to eat after a hard day. Donna worked in this company longer than Derek and when he was hired as a trainee, she taught him everything (from the location of snacks hidden all over the office to places where you can have a nap). Derek, in turn, praised her multicoloured blouses with patterns and each of her new haircuts.
“I will not go. I am not comfortable in a huge crowd of people”.
“I'll go with you”.
“Really?”
“Yes, I had no plans,” Derek said and wrote to his friends that he had been detained at work.
That evil evening, he and Donna sat on the hood of his car and ate takeaway food. Donna was telling a joke about the pelicans. In one hand she held a chicken wing, and when we both started laughing it fell on her skirt. Music played from a nearby cafe.
Put your head on my shoulder…
“Here is a mess!” She smiled.
"Caution! We have a chicken situation here! The code is red!".
She started to laugh even more and accidentally put her hand on Derek's hand. It seemed that he was struck by thousands of lightning, and his cheeks were covered with a blush. Donna suddenly fell silent, and he caught the look of her restless brown eyes. This is the moment when you understand now or never.
"Are you all right? You’re kind of …red?"
" It's all chilli"
Each of them went home. Derek’s heart was beating so fast that his first thought was to go to the hospital.
"Doctor, I have a heart attack!" "No dear, you just fell in love."
And here he is hiding from her.
" Where have you been?" Donna said when he went to her table.
"Yeah…I had to think. This is for you."
Derek held out a small piece of paper and left. Donna read one sentence and understood everything. “There is no word in language to describe the sensation in my lungs when you are near. I lost control and only you can show me the right way”.

“Succeed,” her father told her. She tried not to pay much attention to the fact that she still works as a junior assistant. But now everything has changed. When they announced a competition for the best project, she saw this as a good chance to climb her successful mountain. Lillian did not expect any Donna to set about ruining her dreams.
A common thing: two colleagues are trying to rug out each other to impress the boss. Although Donna worked in this company longer, Lilian appreciated her contribution more. She watched as Donna flirted with the trainee and restrained from sarcastic remarks when she came in sales blouses.
"When does she find time to go to the hairdresser during the breaks of the poisoning my life?" Lillian said when Zoey, the accountant, sat in the cafeteria.
"It seems she's cute."
"This is until she steps on your throat and destroys everything that you loved before."
"You're too dramatic."
When it was time to show project presentations, Lilian did everything she could to prove to herself and others that she was better than Donna. She knew Donna did not even prepare. Lillian saw her go home with a new trainee.
On the same day, Donna was promoted. She smiled and shook hands with everyone.
“Lucky next time,” she said to Lillian.
"Exactly."
That evening, Lilian wrote a note. "I can’t stand you. Stop taking everything I cherish. If the day comes when you leave our company, I will dance right on my desk. I will never forgive you. I send you all the hatred."
The next day, she wanted to put her this note on the table, but the trainee got ahead of her and handed her a piece of paper. When he left, Donna read the note and began to cry.
Lilian threw her note into the trash.
