“08:05, Wednesday.
An unknown taxi driver”
08:05, Wednesday
It’s rainy day, and New and York is in its usual hustle and bustle. The alarm clock, after 10 rings, falls silent. Sandra, just opening her eyes, realizes that she is one step to oversleeping.
Today is intended to be busy and important for her, because from the moment she has graduated from model school, she has dreamed of becoming a cover girl of a magazine. Today a photo session in a well-known magazine is planned, and this means for her only one thing. Sandra needs to be twice faster than usually while brushing her teeth, washing her face and doing the usual morning routine. Then, she needs to get quickly to the studio.
“Oh my God,” the girl exhales and starts to run like in a hamster wheel from corner to corner of a flat in order to get ready and find all the essentials. ‘Furious’ is a word that would characterize her right now in the best way.
Looking aside from Sandra’s morning routine let’s go to her past and present. Being a little duckling in her childhood, she was very silent and not the favorite of her peers. That is why now, having become the top-model and living in a fast pace, Sandra still doesn’t have too many friends and she is considered a little bit arrogant person. In addition, she has become the face of a popular clothing brand managed by her close friend. This fact also leads her to having a huge ego boost.
Today she is invited to be photographed on the cover of a fashion magazine. Sandra was looking forward to this event. However, rain outside and little oversleeping make this morning gray and unpleasant. Honestly, Sandra never used to love mornings. She prefers evenings, beautiful sunsets and loud meetings in the end of a day.
Having done the whole morning routine, she goes outside, takes a step towards the beginning of the next quarter, and tries to catch a taxi. As Sod’s law dictates, Sandra’s attempts to find a taxi quickly are not successful. Finally, the business card of New York — a yellow cab stops in front of her. Getting into the car, she exhales and says in an irritated voice, “Good morning.”
The taxi driver, on the contrary, was sweet and smiling, and therefore pronounced, “Good morning, Miss! Where we go?"
Sandra, to be sure, quickly opens a chat with her manager where the address of the photo studio is.
“College Point Blvd,” she sniped.
“Yay, this is not far from the street where I live. By the way, there is one excellent cafe opposite the Red building that you need.”
“I don’t care about coffee today, for sure,” Sandra bites nose off.
“Oh, Miss, you know, you need to cheer yourself up even on rainy days like this. What kind of music do you listen to?” the taxi driver comes up smiling.
“It does not concern you,” she sais.
“I was just wondering, if I could put on some music that would make you smiling,” the taxi driver mumbles.
“I will appreciate your work if we go just in silence.”
The taxi driver is surprised at such impudence, but gives Sandra another chance and says, “May I ask where you are in such a hurry, Miss?”
She breathed in, looks in the rearview mirror and responds quickly and sharply, “Listen, you are slow like a turtle! I have a shoot today that I can be late for! For me it is very important, and therefore, do not be distracted by empty talk. And let's get me quick there.”
The taxi driver doesn’t like the manner of her speaking, but he, as a decent man, tries to speed up.
In 10 minutes, they stop near a photo studio.
Sandra pays the taxi driver, does not forget to ask for odd money that is supposed to be left for tips. Then she gets out of the car and runs fast into the photo studio.
There she is already awaited by Alice, her partner model, and Ben, editor-in-chief of the magazine. Ben’s duty is to select models for the cover and control the shooting. Sandra pulls on a mask of a sweet, friendly girl and starts discussing fashion world news with Ben and Alice.
Five minutes later, Sandra suddenly sees a taxi driver at the threshold of a photo studio. To her surprise, the taxi driver is not calling her, but Ben, the editor-in-chief.
Ben turns around and quickly goes to taxi driver with open arms, “Tom, brother, I'm very glad to see you here! What are the fates?”
They hug, and Sandra finds the things disturbing. Girl realizes that she has made a mistake by allowing herself discontent and rudeness towards an unknown taxi driver. The shoot she has been waiting for so long might not have taken place.
