No Compromise by Olena Brahynska

Martin. 27.

Blue eyes, bushy eyebrows, bushy beard, soft black hair. Ripped jeans, earrings and Tommy Hilfiger sneakers.
Martin was a tall boy narrow in the shoulders with sculpt strong arms. He had masculine face with square-shaped cheekbones, full lips and straight nose. He was an average lover boy, appealing and full of self-admiration.
The man was brought up as a golden child in the family of the intellectuals. For whatever reasons he preferred to keep silent of his family. He considered himself as a hedonist and was a narrowly known gentleman of virtue. His only passion was his curved and elegant G&L Honey № CLF51363. They both had already travelled around Europe, conquered national music competitions and passed the audition to the famous Ukrainian rock band.
The fifth of July, Friday's night. Martin was at the backstage of the most popu-lar concert hall of Ukraine.
The fifth of July, Friday's night. A blond girl with little snub nose observed Mar-tin's preparations for the performance.
Martin thought about his guitar. Katheline thought about Martin.
"The reckless!" - announced the host. Martin straightened a fingerboard and put his arms around G&L.
"The reckless!" - the Katheline's heart stopped beating and fire overflowed her veins and stomach.

Katheline. 19.
She was a blond angel, purity and Madonna all rolled into one. Naive and honest girl adored Martin and Love was her religion. Usually flesh and steel, she always melted like sugar under the sun when Martin talked to her. She couldn`t let him burn her up, nor could she resist him. There was nothing in all the world she want but him and his precious love.
Some women thought Katheline was the luckiest woman in the world. Howev-er, that was not exactly the case. Katheline was always number two for Martin. The first one was his guitar. More accurately, its sounds.
Martin's fingers were giving all his love and flame to the guitar, he was obsessed with rehearsals and spent hours and hours at night playing on G&L. Not Katheline, but G&L was his beloved on the TV interviews and on the radio shows. But Katheline had been already paralyzed, her body-cells were filled with Martin and his music. It made her fragile and blithe.

Martin and Katheline knew they were in romantic triangle. There were a creator, the muse and music. Two beautiful bodies and souls and a guitar. Music was under Mar-tin's veins and Katheline had to manage her jealousy. The creator couldn't live locked away, he belonged to the stage and music. Katheline acquiesced to step back and gave primacy to music, because she knew: arrant authors never compromise.
