The Wife by Olena Brahynska

There were no signs of trouble.
It was a Friday afternoon. The sun was shining. Birds were singing. Robert was in his office.
Known for a brilliant problem-solving mind, Robert was the best private investigator in the city. He studied religious iconology, symbology and coding at university and that helped him a lot in his work.
The man was handsome in his mid-thirties with strong classic features and thick black hair. Robert was full of himself and thought he could twist anybody round his finger.
Someone knocked on the door. “Come in” said Robert.
A middle-aged man entered the door. The newcomer had pretty unnoticeable appearance. He was a bald guy with glasses. Nevertheless, the man was dressed in an expensive suit and his facial expression had commanded the respect.
“Please sit down. I’m Robert Vetra, director of the detective agency. What can I do for you?” said Robert.
“My name is Ernesto Rocher. You have been highly recommended to me. I have a very sensitive matter to discuss.” said the bald man. “I know my wife is cheating on me and I want you to find a man.” said the visitor with the jealous spark in his eyes.
The visitor handed a photography of his wife to the Robert. Instantly, the investigator recognized Rebecca's full lips and blue eyes. Without any changes in his facial expression and with cold blood, Robert agreed to investigate the case.
Hovewer, on the inside he decided not to reveal the secret.
Robert and Ernesto had a friendly conversation. Firstly, Robert felt pleasure while talking to the cuckold, but a few minutes later he was incredibly sympathetic.
Ernesto was a good man and Robert forgot about Rebecca.
“Good day, Mr. Vetra,” said Ernesto, getting up from his chair and walking to the door. Robert had just started to open the door for the client and suddenly he had been clocked in the jaw. Ernesto was stronger than one could expect.
"Rebecca had stolen your hard drive last night. Now the police will investigate the case." whispered Ernesto in Robert's ear.
Robert Vetra realized he was in a lot of trouble. Robert was not only a private detective, but he also was known as a skilful hacker. He had just recently hacked into the administration network of the government and had accessed to some privileged information.
The detective had lost on his own pitch and became a victim of his own vanity. Alone in the office, the man was thinking of last night couldn't believe in being cheated.
